Shiksha Project 2.0 (CSR Initiative by ONGC)

“Under the CSR support of ONGC, Dhandhanya Foundation is implementing Shiksha Project 2.0 in Thatyur Block, aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure in five schools. The project includes the provision of essential resources such as desks, chairs, computers, inverters, tables, almirahs, microphones, harmonium, and dholak, based on the specific needs of each school. This initiative focuses on creating a better learning environment, enhancing digital access, and supporting holistic development through both academic and cultural learning tools.”

Lighting the Paths: An Upcoming Solar Lights Initiative

In many rural and hilly areas, one of the most common challenges people face is the lack of proper lighting on internal roads and walking paths. After sunset, these routes often become difficult and unsafe to use due to darkness, uneven terrain, and the general fear that comes with poorly lit surroundings. Limited electricity access and frequent power cuts make the situation even more challenging, leaving residents with very few reliable lighting options at night.

Understanding this everyday concern, our NGO is planning an upcoming solar lights installation project focused on improving visibility and safety on village pathways and common routes. The aim of this initiative is simple — to provide sustainable lighting where it is needed the most, without depending heavily on traditional electricity sources.

Solar lighting is a practical and eco-friendly solution, especially in regions where consistent power supply is not guaranteed. These lights charge during the day using sunlight and automatically illuminate after dark, ensuring continuous lighting throughout the night. This makes them both cost-effective and low-maintenance for long-term community use.

Proper lighting on roads and pathways can significantly enhance mobility and confidence among residents. It helps people move safely during early mornings and evenings, supports daily routines, and reduces the risks associated with dark and isolated routes. Additionally, improved lighting contributes to a greater sense of security and comfort for the community as a whole.

This upcoming project reflects our commitment to addressing basic infrastructure gaps through sustainable and practical solutions. By installing solar lights on commonly used routes, we aim to create a safer and more accessible environment while promoting clean energy practices at the grassroots level.

Small infrastructure improvements like pathway lighting can create a meaningful impact on daily life. With this initiative, we look forward to bringing reliable illumination, improved safety, and a positive change to the community through a simple yet effective solar lighting solution.
